My turn to paste in the latest news from the email newsletter:
Upcoming shows in the Northeast:
August 5 - NYC @ The Stone w/ Christian Marclay and Okyung Lee
www.thestonenyc.com
August 6 - Brooklyn, NY @ TBA w/ Amps for Christ, Gowns, Mutant Life Expectancy
Special guests: Shahzad Ismaily, Erika Anderson and Rebecca Gaffney and maybe Ches Smith
August 7 - Brattleboro, VT @ The Loft w/ Amps for Christ, Gowns
74 Cottonmill Hill
Brattleboro, VT
August 10 - Montreal @ Casa del Popolo w/ Amps for Christ, Gowns
www.casadelpopolo.com/
August 13 - Boston, MA @ Jamaica Plain w/ Amps for Christ, Gowns and whoever else
I am not officially on this show but hope to be added and at any rate will be crashing it for sure. I'll be loud and musical in Boston that nite.
August 16 - NYC @ Tonic w/ Amps for Christ, Gowns
This whole nite is an amazing line-up. First of all, and I think on a separate (early) show Sylvie Courvoisier and Ikue Mori will be playing. Amps for Christ play at 9:30 sharp. Gowns play at 10:30 and then my show will have amazing guests! Al Kyzis and Norman Westberg (both ex-Swans), Carla Kihlstedt, Shahzad Ismaily, Ezra Buchla and Jenny Scheinman and maybe Ches! www.tonicnyc.com
The other shows will have surprise guests as well.
I'll be recording while I'm there-- a couple of tracks with Book of Knots - a project with a revolving and numerous array of earth's finest musicians.
IMPORTANT NOTE: I have been advertised as playing in Brooklyn on 8/20. I have no idea where that came from, but unfortunately I will not even in NY that day.
In the words of the compelling Erika Anderson, who plays in both of the following marvelous bands:
"GOWNS are the new wave of folk noise because we have a computer. It's pretty and kind of sloppy but not totally incompetent, chaotic but dynamic as well."
You can listen at:
www.myspace.com/gowns or www.myrobobedroom.com
"AMPS FOR CHRIST were one of my favorite bands before I started playing guitar with them, and they still are! Oscillators and Celtic ballads, Chinese
dulcimers and homemade sitars. This is the first real tour, especially on the east coast. I would say this band is one of - if not THE - originator of
experimental noise/folk. Ex-man is the bastard. Big beard."

And I, Carla, add: Henry from AFC is one of the few great musicians who can pull off a beard.
